Amani Nada Abbara

How it all began…

Abbara, a progressive and diverse art and design brand based in Qatar, was founded in 2021 by two passionate designers and sisters, Nada and Amani Abbara. The name, Abbara, reflects the pair’s interdisciplinary design interests and their commitment to discovering a multifaceted fundamental reality behind each creation. Every time they embark on a new journey, they take the road “less traveled by,” and embrace all possibilities turning risks into opportunities, and reaching further horizons.

Amani Abbara graduated from VCUarts-Qatar in 2014 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts [BFA] majoring in Interior Design and minoring in Art History. She demonstrates extensive research background in art and design history collectively as well as materials and their applications in the interior environments. She perceives design as both personal and collective; without identity and culture, it remains a passive impression, surveyed remotely as a fleeting, unfelt moment. This idea was the steppingstone for her in conceiving a holistic experience and stimulated her further research in transforming the Syrian traditional home. Amani’s design education and professional practice culminated in a unique design identity: honoring the past, promoting a sense of pride, and inspiring the next generations of designers who share the same passion. Her diverse professional encounters unveiled a profound basis in all evocative design discourse: the humane perspective. This, along with her exposure to other disciplines and personal challenges influenced the designer she is now.

Nada Abbara is an artist and a practicing multi-disciplinary designer. She obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts [BFA] in Interior Design in 2019, and a Master of Fine Arts [MFA] in Design in 2021, from VCUarts-Qatar. Her passion for arts and design propelled her learning process throughout years of practice which have equipped her with a deep understanding of the subtleties of human interactions and intricacies of design. She developed her creative identity through exposure to various fields and experiences that encompass robotics, set design, product design, visual graphics, and arts. She relentlessly explores the scientific as well as the artistic aspects of a creation, which yields a sophisticated and multidimensional quality to her work. She strives to craft a captivating narrative and combines seemingly unrelated concepts into a novel invention by traversing beyond the quotidian, in the pursuit of true purpose and meaning.
