FIFA Football Booth

PROJECT BOOTH

LOCATION DOHA, QATAR

The Biomechanics of a Football Kick

The design approach is to create a branded booth that expresses the visual identity of the SC (The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy) through an abstracted motion of a football kick. Since the biomechanics of a football kick have a certain complexity, the concept was simplified through concentrating on the parts of the body that have the most contribution in the motion; the legs and pelvis.

The football player movement in the instep kick can be divided into three phases: back swing, ball contact, and follow through. The booth’s design focuses on the ball-contact phase, which in this context signifies the interaction and engagement with the audience. The whole booth is inclined to one side, which embodies the inclination of the football player through the instep kick to maintain balance. The eastern elevation represents the support leg, and the western elevation represents the kicking leg; while the roof embodies the obliquity of the pelvis.
